Gencon Cadet Program – Filled

So I am excited. Our event at Gencon filled the first day. I know we are going to have fun again this year.

For those that were not able to sign up and haven’t filled that time stop by and say Hello! If we have a no-show, we need all 12 spots filled so you could get lucky!

Roll the dice and hope for box cars!

Alpha Strike Point Adjustment

So the Alpha Strike point adjustment is live. Checking the published lists I have on this site, I can see I need to go back and re-calculate. For instance the Jenner JR7-D went from 20 to 26 points. I am planning on re-publishing the units with updated points and hopefully some paint!

Death of Commander Jamie Wolf

Today October 18th 3067 Commander Jamie Wolf was found dead in the cockpit of his Archer after having vanquished a number of members from Waco’s Rangers, including Wayne Waco himself. Due to this tragedy, Brian Cameron triggered condition Feral and brought a quick end to the fighting in Harlech during the unrest fostered by Word of Blake.

We are the storm

Fate whispers to the warrior

“You cannot withstand the storm”

and the warrior whispers back

“I am the storm.”

I am re-reading Redemption Rift by Jason Schmetzer and I ran across this quote today. It couldn’t help but think how this statement embodies the Dragoons. Call it what you will, the Dragoons have always been a force to reckon with. You know when you see that snarling black and red wolf’s head on the field of battle, you know you are in for the fight of your life.

A Dragoon’s Mentality

“Why Do I Succeed?

I succeed because I am willing to do the things you are not. I will fight against the odds. I will sacrifice. I am not shackled by fear, insecurity, or doubt. I feel those emotions drink them in and then swallow them away to the blackness of hell. I am motivated by accomplishment, not pride. Pride consumes the weak-kills their heart from within. If I fall, I will get up. If I am beaten, I will return. I will never stop getting better. I will never give up, ever.

That is why I succeed.” – Anonymous

Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth’s foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling,
And took their wages, and are dead.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood, and earth’s foundations stay;
What God abandoned, these defended,
And saved the sum of things for pay.

4/2 OC Games and Comics – FIGHT!

Headed home this weekend and got a chance to setup a game at my cousin’s store. We played a lance on lance scenario with a twist, quicksand… surprise quicksand.

What we did was after your movement roll two D6, on any doubles, you ended up in quicksand. When this surprise happens you didn’t get to fire that round and you where considered ankle deep. Hex was marked as quicksand, any hex you had ended in before, didn’t have to roll.

Movement next round started with a skill roll if successful moved normally. If you have jump jets and used them, no skill role needed. If you failed, waist deep and +3 to modifier to fire while receiving partial cover.

Movement next round started with a skill roll +2, this is in consideration of afraid and being waist deep. If successful 2mp used to get out, move normally. If unsuccessful, you are swallowed whole, destroyed.

I ended up getting my Trebuchet mired and got to waist deep before getting out in round 6. I was a bit excited to break out of that situation.

I only took the one picture as we kind of got into it with the quicksand option. Every move was exciting.

Forces used:
Defenders
Shogun SHG-2E – 46
Stalker STK-5M – 49 (Skill 2 +20pts)
Dervish DVR-6M – 30
Trebuchet TBT-5N – 27 = 172pts

Attackers
Atlas AS7-D – 52
Victor VTR-9D – 42
Grasshopper “Gravedigger” – 41
Grasshopper GHR-5J – 42 = 177

In the end the Fire Support Lance ended up being too much. It was a complete loss for the Attackers while losing the Stalker and Trebuchet for the Defenders

A really fun and exciting game.
