Death of Commander Jamie Wolf

Today October 18th 3067 Commander Jamie Wolf was found dead in the cockpit of his Archer after having vanquished a number of members from Waco’s Rangers, including Wayne Waco himself. Due to this tragedy, Brian Cameron triggered condition Feral and brought a quick end to the fighting in Harlech during the unrest fostered by Word of Blake.

We are the storm

Fate whispers to the warrior

“You cannot withstand the storm”

and the warrior whispers back

“I am the storm.”

I am re-reading Redemption Rift by Jason Schmetzer and I ran across this quote today. It couldn’t help but think how this statement embodies the Dragoons. Call it what you will, the Dragoons have always been a force to reckon with. You know when you see that snarling black and red wolf’s head on the field of battle, you know you are in for the fight of your life.

A Dragoon’s Mentality

“Why Do I Succeed?

I succeed because I am willing to do the things you are not. I will fight against the odds. I will sacrifice. I am not shackled by fear, insecurity, or doubt. I feel those emotions drink them in and then swallow them away to the blackness of hell. I am motivated by accomplishment, not pride. Pride consumes the weak-kills their heart from within. If I fall, I will get up. If I am beaten, I will return. I will never stop getting better. I will never give up, ever.

That is why I succeed.” – Anonymous

Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth’s foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling,
And took their wages, and are dead.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood, and earth’s foundations stay;
What God abandoned, these defended,
And saved the sum of things for pay.

4/2 OC Games and Comics – FIGHT!

Headed home this weekend and got a chance to setup a game at my cousin’s store. We played a lance on lance scenario with a twist, quicksand… surprise quicksand.

What we did was after your movement roll two D6, on any doubles, you ended up in quicksand. When this surprise happens you didn’t get to fire that round and you where considered ankle deep. Hex was marked as quicksand, any hex you had ended in before, didn’t have to roll.

Movement next round started with a skill roll if successful moved normally. If you have jump jets and used them, no skill role needed. If you failed, waist deep and +3 to modifier to fire while receiving partial cover.

Movement next round started with a skill roll +2, this is in consideration of afraid and being waist deep. If successful 2mp used to get out, move normally. If unsuccessful, you are swallowed whole, destroyed.

I ended up getting my Trebuchet mired and got to waist deep before getting out in round 6. I was a bit excited to break out of that situation.

I only took the one picture as we kind of got into it with the quicksand option. Every move was exciting.

Forces used:
Defenders
Shogun SHG-2E – 46
Stalker STK-5M – 49 (Skill 2 +20pts)
Dervish DVR-6M – 30
Trebuchet TBT-5N – 27 = 172pts

Attackers
Atlas AS7-D – 52
Victor VTR-9D – 42
Grasshopper “Gravedigger” – 41
Grasshopper GHR-5J – 42 = 177

In the end the Fire Support Lance ended up being too much. It was a complete loss for the Attackers while losing the Stalker and Trebuchet for the Defenders

A really fun and exciting game.

It’s back….

This is one of the more exciting updates I have had because this is something I have wanted for some time. I got in touch with the guys that had been running the site havedropshipwilltravel.com specifically for their AS Forcelist page to help print AS cards/sheets.

The genius behind this, El_Spectre gave me his blessing to host the code and allow this awesome tool to live again here at Wolf’s Dragoons. If you get a chance, give him a shout out over on the BT forums.

Alpha Strike Lance Packs and Box Set – Camacho’s Caballeros

The final installment of my Alpha Strike Company series. These were some of the mechs that were left over and thought I would figure out a way to put them together. This is by no means the last company (I have more mechs!) but this is the last that I have currently configured. Again the goal of this project was to create Alpha Strike Companies using only the Lance Pack and Box Set plastic mechs. Secondary goal was to create companies that are balanced and have flavor. Since I am a mercenary at heart, I felt I would end this with another mercenary company. One of my favorite units the 17th Recon Regiment or otherwise known as Camacho’s Caballeros.

Atlas – AS7-D = 52
Quickdraw – QKD-4G = 30
Cicada – CDA-2A = 16
WTH-1 Whitworth – 26 = 124pts

Banshee – BNC-3E = 38
Catapult – CPLT-C1 = 33
Dragon – DRG-1N = 30
Panther – PNT-9R = 20 = 121pts

JagerMech – JM6-S – 26
Enforcer – ENF-4R – 27
Spider – SDR-5V – 16
Spider – SDR-5V – 16 = 85pts

Totals for this company come to 330pts.

Wolf’s Dragoons vs. FWL – FIGHT!

I was fortunate enough to have a friend agree to start testing out my AS Companies. Tuesday night Wolf’s Dragoons went up against the FWL. We didn’t get a chance to finish the game but in my opinion it was going to end up a blood bath. I was pleased with how balanced and even things were progressing. Gives me hope that they should all play relatively well. Also giving a new base a tryout. I have been in talks with a guy on the forum who 3D printed the bases. I really, really like them. I think it will really help players keep track of their units on the field of battle. I am looking forward to getting the rest of the bases. He was kind enough to print up 24 in 7 different colors. House colors: red, blue, yellow, green, purple and Merc: black, silver. If you notice, there is a slot on the back of the base for a custom whatever, emblem, TMM, both, etc.

Sorry the mechs aren’t painted, I am working on that 🙂
