Fate whispers to the warrior
“You cannot withstand the storm”
and the warrior whispers back
“I am the storm.”
I am re-reading Redemption Rift by Jason Schmetzer and I ran across this quote today. It couldn’t help but think how this statement embodies the Dragoons. Call it what you will, the Dragoons have always been a force to reckon with. You know when you see that snarling black and red wolf’s head on the field of battle, you know you are in for the fight of our life.
“Why Do I Succeed?
I succeed because I am willing to do the things you are not. I will fight against the odds. I will sacrifice. I am not shackled by fear, insecurity, or doubt. I feel those emotions drink them in and then swallow them away to the blackness of hell. I am motivated by accomplishment, not pride. Pride consumes the weak-kills their heart from within. If I fall, I will get up. If I am beaten, I will return. I will never stop getting better. I will never give up, ever.
That is why I succeed.” – Anonymous
These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth’s foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling,
And took their wages, and are dead.
Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood, and earth’s foundations stay;
What God abandoned, these defended,
And saved the sum of things for pay.
